Meet Adam Demetri

About MeAdam Demetri, Esq. has been practicing law for the past 30+ years. Adam devotes his current practice to advising clients regarding all aspects of Estate Planning, Asset Preservation and Elder Law. After years of advocating for clients who suffered significant personal injuries and wrongful death, Adam saw first-hand the devastating effects a lack of proper estate planning has on loved ones, and on family businesses due to ineffective advanced estate planning.  As a result, Adam founded the Estate Planning and Elder Law practice at The Demetri Law Firm, PLLC.  By utilizing personalized Estate Planning strategies, Adam strives to provide caring and effective representation to families and help preserve their legacy, protect their assets and provide for loved ones for generations to come. Adam is a member of numerous state and local bar association committees involving estate planning, elder law and special needs law.  Adam serves on the Board of Directors and the Legal Advisory Committee of The Alzheimer’s Disease Resource Center, Inc.  Adam is a frequent lecturer on estate planning and elder law, and has been appointed by the New York State Board of Accountancy to provide continuing education credits to accountants in the area of estate planning and elder law.

Adam obtained his undergraduate degree in 1988 from the State University of New York at Binghamton. He was awarded the Juris Doctor degree from Hofstra University School of Law in 1991 “With Distinction” and served as an Editor for the Hofstra Law Review. Immediately after graduating Hofstra Law School, Adam began his legal career as an attorney at the prestigious law firm of Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom in New York City.  For over the past 30 years, Adam has been practicing law in Garden City, Long Island.

In addition to Estate Planning, Elder Law, Special Needs and Asset Preservation, Adam also represents his clients concerning real estate transactions, small business and contract related matters, and provides general advice to closely held corporations, limited liability companies and partnerships.  Adam utilizes his prior vast litigation experience to advise his clients on implementing various asset protection strategies so that one’s entire assets are not lost to a potential creditor, divorcing spouse, or from scrupulous lawsuits.

Adam is a member of the NYS Bar Association, The American Association for Justice, Nassau County Bar Association, the Trust and Estates and Elder Law & Special Needs Sections of the NYS Bar Association. He is admitted to practice law in New York State and the United States District Court for the Eastern and Southern Districts. He is a member of numerous practice committees including litigation, estate planning and elder law. Adam is an active member of Wealth Counsel, The National Academy of Elder Law Attorneys (NAELA) and Elder Counsel, three preeminent organizations proudly providing effective representation in the area of estate planning and elder law.  Adam frequently lectures on estate planning, asset preservation and elder law.  Adam always looks forward to helping individuals and families plan for their future, and to protect their assets and their loved ones from creditors, predators and lawsuits.  Adam blends his former large firm experience at one of the nation’s largest preeminent law firms with his passion for helping clients on a more personal one-on-one level. “Client Focused.
